Samun JPJ naik 333%

Rang Undang-Undang Pengangkutan Jalan (Pindaan 2010) telah dibentangkan tapi kemudian dibakulsampahkan on the very next day. Kajian ‘teliti’ yang menghanguskan ratusan jam kerja telah menjadi sia-sia. MOT gagal lagi dan KPI jatuh lagi. Di mana silapnya?

I may be wrong but I think MOT failed to set the priority right. They don’t have to introduce any other radical changes, instead enforcing and enhancing current process would be adequate - at this point of time. The objective of 333% increase for compound is obviously a punishment type or to gempak repeated offenders. Not a single reason was highlighted during pembentangan di Dewan by Rahim Bakri (Timb Menteri Pengangkutan) neither he explain the root-causes of repeated traffic offenders. The main MOT problems are:

1. Politic & Sense
Decisions were made because of some politicians say so or MOT officials feel it that way. Both are not experts in road traffic issues therefore almost all of the processes are centred towards facilitating the management or kerja senang to kerajaan – not rakyat didahulukan.

2. Enforcement & Enforcement
Enforcement, enforcement, enforcement, enforcement, enforcement, enforcement, enforcement, enforcement, enforcement, enforcement and enforcement. Do I need to elaborate?

Malaysia is so unique; we have a law that last for only a few hours and outdated laws that originated before my father was born that never been reviewed. Personally I have no objection with the 333% increased  of minimum compound because I know that the government will offer 666% discount at the end of a year!
